Article Synopsis – Dawn Zimmer, the mayor of Hoboken, NJ and James Cason, the mayor of Coral Gables, FL are calling on the incoming Trump administration and Congress to prioritize investments in climate resilience across the country. These two mayors have seen firsthand the damage that occurs to communities from increased flooding due to rising tides, more extreme rainfall, and devastating hurricanes. Sea level rise is not just a threat to coastal communities; vulnerable ports and infrastructure pose an economic risk to inland communities as well. Coastal flooding is also a challenge for national security. Critical military assets that help protect our country are concentrated on the coasts.
