As Greenland Melts, Where’s the Water Going? – The New York Times

Article Synopsis – Scientists have discovered that not all of a glacier’s meltwater drains to the bottom of the ice sheet and out to sea, some of it is retained in porous ice, which may have implications for sea level rise. The Greenland ice sheet contains enough ice that, if it all melted, would raise oceans around the world by 24 feet.
