West Antarctica is melting—and it’s our fault – National Geographic

Article Synopsis – New research shows that over the past century, human-driven global warming has changed the winds in Antarctica, causing glaciers in West Antarctica to melt. Climate change has been weakening or reversing winds that normally carry warm water offshore. When this happens, the warm water stays near the ice sheet and melts the ice. If all of the West Antarctic ice sheet were to melt, global sea levels would rise by 10 feet (3 m) or more.To read the actual article click here.
