Article Synopsis – In the latest geo-engineering attempt to refreeze the arctic, designers have proposed iceberg-making submarines that will create new ice fields and help restore the ecosystem. “The vessel would work by re-freezing Arctic sea-water into hexagon-shaped icebergs which would ultimately cluster together to form new ice floes.” Scientists are skeptical as to the amount of energy (and source of the energy) as well as the scale needed for this design to be effective.
