As Election Nears, Trump Makes a Final Push Against Climate Science – The New York Times

Article Synopsis – In an effort to undercut the National Climate Assessment, the Trump Administration has appointed several climate deniers to top positions within NOAA and issued a memorandum “prohibiting external and internal communication at the agency without approval by political staff”.  “The assessment is the premier American contribution to knowledge about climate risks and serves as the foundation for federal regulations to combat global warming.” A biased or diminished report could be used to protect fossil fuel companies from lawsuits, counter efforts to reduce emissions, and weaken the federal government’s obligation to “regulate carbon emissions under the Clean Air act”. To read the actual article click here
