Article Synopsis – As Bangkok prepares to host climate-change talks, the sprawling city of more than 10 million is itself under siege from the environment, with dire forecasts warning that nearly 40 percent of the city could be submerged by 2030. The government is constructing networks of canals, pumping stations, and underground tunnels to try to mitigate the effects of sea level rise and climate change, but these efforts may not be enough to save the city.
