Article Synopsis – The oceans have reached record high temperatures, causing weather forecasters to worry that extreme weather events, like hurricanes and wildfires, may increase. Parts of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans all hit heat records last month, with an average of 1.49 degrees F above typical levels. Warmer water can intensify hurricanes.
