Article Synopsis – Venice is becoming inundated with sea water due to the “combined effects of land subsidence causing the city to sink, and climate change causing the global sea level to rise”. To combat the problem, the city devised a system of 78 storm gates, known as MOSE, that experts say could damage the ecology of the surrounding lagoon and ultimately won’t save Venice.
