The World’s Largest Iceberg is Headed for South Georgia Island—and Its Wildlife – National Geographic

Article Synopsis – Iceberg A68, the largest in the world, is floating towards an Antarctic wildlife sanctuary, posing a threat to the wildlife in the region. The 1,500 square mile iceberg broke off of the Larsen C ice shelf in 2017. It could damage the seabeds around South Georgia, which are home to brittle stars, urchins, worms, sponges, fish, and krill. A68 could also block penguins from their feeding grounds and disrupt the food chain of seals and whales. To read the actual article click here
