The World is Losing the War Against Climate Change – The Economist

Article Synopsis – As wildfires and heat waves spread across much of the globe, greenhouse gas emissions and investments in oil and gas are rising, pushing the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement even farther from reach. This rise in emissions is due to many factors. Fossil fuels are easier to hook up to today’s grids than renewables and there is plenty of economic and political inertia. “The technical challenge of stripping carbon out of industries goes beyond power generation. Steel, cement, farming, transport and other forms of economic activity account for over half of global carbon emissions. They are technically harder to clean up than power generation and are protected by vested industrial interests”. To read the actual article click here
