Swallowed by the Sea – The New York Times

Article Synopsis – Anyone who doubts rising sea level should come to Kutubdia, an island off Bangladesh, home to about 100,000 people and quickly disappearing. Thousands of climate refugees have already fled Kutubdia for the mainland. The island is sinking or subsiding, adding to the global sea level rise caused by the melting glaciers and ice sheets. It is estimated that between 12 – 48 million Bangladeshi will be displaced by rising sea level depending on how warm the planet gets, making it the third most exposed country to rising sea level in terms of population at risk. To read the actual article click here.
