Study: Reflecting Sunlight to Cool the Planet Will Cause Other Global Changes – Big Think

Article Synopsis – Scientists investigating the effects of geoengineering to reduce solar heating have discovered that such projects could weaken storm tracks in both hemispheres. Weaker storm tracks could lead to temperature changes and stagnant, less windy conditions, which would result in more air pollution. “Changes in winds could also affect the circulation of ocean waters and, in turn, the stability of ice sheets.” According to Charles Gerter, one of the study authors, “This work highlights that solar geoengineering is not reversing climate change, but is substituting one unprecedented climate state for another.” To read the actual article click here
