OosterscheldekeringArticle Synopsis – When it comes to preparing for sea level rise, the Dutch are on the forefront and should be used as an example of resiliency and ingenuity. Most of the land in the Netherlands is collectively owned, which allows the city to think longer term about the value of large public works projects. They use systems of dikes, pumps and water diversion that are integrated into the landscape, creatively using the space and actually adding value and beauty for public use.
