Seas are Rising Faster Than Ever – Science Magazine

Article Synopsis – According to a new analysis, the current rate of sea level rise is 4.8 mm/year, not the 3.2 mm/year previously reported in the IPCC report from 2014. The increased rate of rise is due primarily to the accelerated melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet. Researchers are estimating sea level rise “will reach 25 cm above 2000 levels, a point when 100-year floods on some coastlines could be a near annual occurrence”, by mid-century. To read the actual article click here
