Sea level rise could swamp some New Zealand cities – Stuff
Article Synopsis – Many coastal cities in New Zealand are highly vulnerable to rising sea levels. On average, a 2.5 degree Celsius global temperature increase would see New Zealand coastal sea levels rise by 5.6 meters. Current conservative sea level projections, which predict just 0.8 meters of sea level rise by 2100, may significantly underestimate the Antarctic contribution if ice sheets begin a rapid decline.
