Article Synopsis – Using fossils, scientists were able to determine that 50 million years ago, when COlevels were at 1000 ppm, temperatures in Europe were 10–15 degrees Celsius (18–27 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer than modern times. The heat in the tropics may have been even more severe.
