Rising Seas give Island Nation a Stark Choice: Relocate or Elevate – National Geographic
Article Synopsis – Sea level rise is forcing the residents of the Marshall Islands to face a difficult choice: they must either relocate or elevate their land. The Marshall Islands are one of four island nations considered to be at greatest risk of exposure to sea level rise; the other three are Kiribati, Tuvalu, the Maldives. One idea being considered is the construction of a new, elevated island. This, of course, would come with extreme costs and further destruction of coral reefs in the area.
