Article Synopsis – A new study has found that grazing herds like horses, bison, and reindeer, could preserve up to 80% of the permafrost by 2100. Researchers found that the stamping action of the animals’ hooves helped to disperse snow and compact the ground, which “reduces the insulating effect and intensifies the freezing of the permafrost”.
