Article Synopsis – Chemical analysis of marine fossils from 66 million years ago shows that ocean acidification can cause mass extinction of marine life. Researchers found that ocean pH dropped by 0.25 units after a meteorite strike, wiping out three quarters of marine species. “Researchers estimate that the pH of the ocean will drop by 0.4 pH units by the end of this century if carbon emissions are not stopped.” To read the actual article click here.
