Article Synopsis – Researchers at MIT are exploring using wave energy to produce self-growing sandbars, islands and beaches to “help coastal communities threatened by climate change”. These submerged bladders respond to wave energy the same way that natural sandbars do, helping to build up the coastlines to protect against erosion, storm activity, and rising sea levels.
