Migrating Arctic Geese Are Confused, Exhausted By Rising Temperatures – npr

Article Synopsis – Rising Arctic temperatures are causing migratory barnacle geese to be out of sync with some of their best food sources, which means that fewer of their chicks are surviving their early months. Barnacle geese migrate more than 1,800 miles every spring to the Arctic to lay eggs. Normally the eggs hatch in time for their chicks to benefit from the spring food peak. But as temperatures increase, the food peak is occurring earlier, and the migratory birds are missing it. Climate change is particular difficult for migratory species to adjust to since they spend part of the year in a totally different climate. To read the actual article click here
