Remember also that every sunbeam that hits the earth's surface passes through this gas; everywhere, continuously. World wide, it adds up. Our problem is that carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are rising by 2.5 parts per million every year, and the rate is increasing. Projecting that out to 2050, or beyond, would place us in an untenable position. The best way to lower carbon levels is by using economic, market forces to increase the cost of carbon emissions, while lowering those of renewable energy.
