Inside the US military’s fight against sea level rise – Circa

militaryArticle Synopsis – Rising sea levels and increased flooding events pose a great threat to U.S. military bases across the country.  In September of 2016, President Obama ordered defense and military leaders to consider climate change in all aspects of its planning.  A survey of 1500 installations, radar sites, and training rages found that 60 percent reported impacts from climate change. A lot of that includes sites impacted by sea level rise. The Air Force alone has 78 sites that are within 2 kilometers of the coastline. The threat is not only monetary. Damages to bases and equipment will impact the military’s ability to complete missions and protect the United States against threats abroad. To read the actual article click here.
