Article Synopsis – Germany, which currently gets more than a third of its electricity from burning coal, is looking at phasing out the use of coal by 2038. The plan, which still needs government approval, “foresees billions in federal funding to help affected regions cope with the economic impact, and to shield industry and consumers from higher electricity prices.
