Article Synopsis – A new study has found that Greenland’s ice sheet is melting four times faster than in 2003, and most of it is coming from land-based ice. While sea ice does not directly raise sea levels, the melting of land ice does, so this finding suggests sea levels may rise faster than thought. Lead author Michael Bevis believes the Greenland ice sheet “hit a tipping point around 2002-2003 when the ice loss rapidly accelerated”. To read the actual article click here.
