Vietnamese farmerArticle Synopsis – Coastal countries are highly prone to sea-level rise, which leads to salt-water intrusion and increased salinity levels in agricultural land. This makes food production increasingly difficult and also threatens the freshwater supply. Developing countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam are particularly vulnerable. Scientists have been working on possible solutions such as creating salt-resistant rice strains, alternative cropping systems, and building aquifers to collect freshwater, but all of these measures are expensive and only offer temporary solutions. To read the actual article click here.
