Article Synopsis – New research suggests that some permafrost in Alaska and Russia may no longer freeze at all, releasing trapped greenhouse gases that could accelerate human-caused climate change. Permafrost contains more than twice the carbon found in the atmosphere as well as large quantities of methane.
