Dramatic Video Shows Deadly Tsunami Hitting Greenland – National Geographic

Article Synopsis – A tsunami that struck western Greenland late Saturday has left four people presumed dead, dozens injured, and 11 homes washed away. Most tsunamis are caused by underwater earthquakes. On Greenland’s arctic side, glacial earthquakes have been increasing with the melting of glaciers, which cause the ice sheets to shift and crack. Earthquakes on Greenland’s west coast are rare, however. A 4.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the region on the night of the tsunami, but some geologists believe the tsunami was caused by a giant landslide that signaled the seismic activity.
