Combating Storm Surge Gets Tougher As Sea Level Rises – CBS Miami

Article Synopsis – Storm surge is considered the deadliest hazard in a hurricane and, as sea levels rise, may become more and more common with future storms. Miami Beach has been trying to prepare for this reality by raising roads and installing storm drains. According to Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales, these efforts may prevent minor flooding but will not be able to stop a storm surge. “No question that impact of minor storms is now leading to storm surge.
