Article Synopsis – Many major coastal cities have been assessing the risks of sea level rise and the associated costs with adapting- sometimes running into the billions- but new studies suggest “they may be far underestimating the costs that lie ahead”. A recent analysis by the Union of Concerned Scientists has projected that sea level rise “could sink more than 300,000 U.S. coastal residential and commercial properties (worth approximately $117.5 billion) by 2045”.
