Article Synopsis – Scientific evidence is mounting that climate tipping points are more likely than once believed and could result in long-term, irreversible changes. The two most recent IPCC reports “suggest that tipping points could be exceeded even between 1 and 2 °C of warming”. We are at risk of reaching several tipping points from ice loss, deforestation, coral bleaching, ecological regime shifts, or possibly even a global cascade of tipping points.
