Climate Change Could Wipe Out 80% Of Fish In The Pacific Islands – HuffPost UK
Article Synopsis – A new study has found that Pacific Island Nations could lose between 50-80% of all marine species as the oceans continue to warm. The waters of the Pacific Ocean are some of the warmest – and most constant – in the world. Due to this seasonal stability, even the smallest changes in water temperature can have a vast impact on the marine life that resides there. The changes are happening so rapidly that marine organisms are unable to adapt. They will either go extinct or migrate to other areas, greatly reducing the biodiversity in the Pacific.
