Article Synopsis – Climate change has caused a shortage of summer nutrients resulting in a “50% decline in North East Atlantic plankton over the past 60 years”. Researchers have found that larger, nutritious plankton are being replaced by “tiny plankton of poorer food quality”. These tiny plankton “cannot sustain shelf sea food webs efficiently”.
