Article Synopsis – As climate change continues to produce extreme weather around the world, the United States has plans to open 177 new natural gas power plants. Not only is natural gas a large contributor to carbon emissions, it is also more expensive than clean energy alternatives. “By 2023, the U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates the average cost of producing a megawatt hour of electricity will be $40.20 for a large-scale natural gas plant.
