Arctic Lakes are Releasing Relatively Young Carbon – Science Daily
Article Synopsis – Researchers have determined that the carbon being emitted by thawing Arctic lakes is relatively newly accumulated, which means that there will be less of an impact on the climate. Researchers also found that almost all of the greenhouse gases being emitted from the studied bodies of water was in the form of carbon dioxide, not methane. Carbon dioxide is about 30 times less effective in trapping solar heat than methane. To read the actual article click here.
