Antarctic Penguins Find an Unlikely Ally: Fishermen – National Geographic

Article Synopsis – After years of negotiations, a majority of the krill fishing industry has agreed to limit fishing around Adélie penguin colonies in Antarctica, which have been declining in recent years due to climate change. “The industry also committed to helping set up a network of marine protected areas in coming years to better protect marine animals”. Krill fishing is a multimillion-dollar global industry. The krill are used to feed aquarium fish, farm-raised salmon, and in pharmaceuticals.
