Antarctic Melting Slows Atmospheric Warming and Speeds Sea Level Rise – Phys Org
Article Synopsis – According to new research, “as the Antarctic ice sheet melts, warming of the atmosphere will be delayed by about a decade but sea level rise will accelerate”. This is due to Antarctic meltwater trapping more heat in the ocean. The Antarctic melting will also cause the tropical rain belt to shift north.
The findings were surprising as researchers “did not expect the Antarctic meltwater to affect the global climate system”. To read the actual article click here.
