Article Synopsis – Researchers have found that even though CO2 emissions are reducing due to the impact of the coronavirus, the annual concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere will still increase this year. CO2 levels are estimated to rise by 2.48 ppm; this rise is 11% smaller than it would have been without a lockdown. “For CO2 to stop building up in the atmosphere, human-caused emissions would need to drop by around 50% in the short term” and even larger in the long-term.
