Surface Melting Causes Antarctic Glaciers to Slip Faster Towards the Ocean, New Research Shows – Phys Org
Article Synopsis – New research has shown that surface meltwater draining through glaciers in Antarctica is causing an acceleration in melt rate. Some of these glaciers are moving “at speeds 100 percent faster than average (up to 400m per year) for a period of several days multiple times per year”. This finding could have significant implications for future sea level rise. To read the actual article click here.
