Sea Level Rise has Already Sunk Carolinas Beach Property Values – StarNews

Article Synopsis – Scientists have found that flooding caused by sea level rise from 2005 to 2017 has already caused an estimated $7.4 billion in reduced home values across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. The study is the first of its kind to show depreciation of home values has already taken place in the United States. Scientists at the nonprofit First Street Foundation have created “an interactive tool — Flood iQ — that allows people to search communities and individual properties to see how much value they’ve lost, and could lose in the future due to sea level rise”. To read the actual article click here
