Article Synopsis – In the 17th century, during a period called the “Little Ice Age”, while most other societies were starving and warring, the Dutch Republic flourished and left us with lessons that may help us prepare for climate change. They used their environment, adjusted their economy, and adapted their technologies and policies to exploit the Little Ice Age. Today, we can learn from the Dutch by strengthening social safety nets, by investing in technologies that exploit or reduce climate change and, more broadly, by thinking proactively about how we will adapt to the warmer planet of our future. To read the actual article click here
