Article Synopsis – Research suggests that polar bears are catching fewer seals and moving greater distances than they did historically, resulting in an energy imbalance that negatively affects their condition and reproductive success. In the Beaufort Sea, polar bears have shown declines in abundance, survival rates and body condition.
