Maryland Island Denies Sea Level Rise, Yet Wants to Stop It – Scientific American

Article Synopsis – Deal Island, Md is, in many ways, a microcosm of the United States. Within a few generations, much of the island could become uninhabitable due to sea level rise, yet many of the residents are skeptical of climate change. Although they are aware of what is happening to their island, some are more comfortable simply attributing the problem to erosion or ‘land loss’. The Chesapeake Bay has already lost 13 islands to rising waters.
