Gary Griggs, Our Ocean Backyard: We must move toward renewable energy – Governors’ Wind & Solar Energy Coalition
Article Synopsis – Today the world depends on fossil fuels for 86 percent of our total energy. We need to move away from fossil fuel use for two major reasons: 1) the supplies are finite and limited; and 2) the human and global impacts from the extraction, transportation and combustion of these fuels is far too damaging. There are currently only 76,000 people employed in the coal mining industry, and that number is dropping. The solar and wind industries are each creating jobs at a rate 12 times faster than that of the rest of the U.S. economy. Renewable energy sources are better for the environment, better for the economy, and they last forever. To read the actual article click here.
