Dutch experience with tough choices of rising seas

The Dutch are widely acknowledged to have the greatest expertise with holding back the sea. Generally that is perceived to take the form of levees, huge movable gates, and windmills to pump the water from low lying land. The realities are far more complex, involving tough choices for government and land owners as this article in today’s New York Times illustrates, “Going With the Flow” by Michael Kimmelman.
