Miami Beach to begin new $100 million flood prevention project in face of sea level rise – Miami Herald

South Beach FloodArticle Synopsis – Miami Beach is set to embark on a $100 million project to raise roads, install pumps and water mains and redo sewer connections during the next two years in an effort to keep streets dry in the face of sea level rise. The project area includes 800 homes, and some homeowners are voicing concerns about potential impacts to their property and in the surrounding bay. In order to address some of the concerns, such as floodwater being diverted onto private property and polluted water getting pumped into the bay, the city is exploring their options and attempting to find creative solutions that address the needs of the entire city. To read the actual article click here.
