The UK will be importing LNG from wherever it is cheapest, and I suspect, treating the re-gasified natural gas as an identical commodity whether it originates from Qatar, or any of our traditional trading partners, The Russian Federation or The USA. As a UK citizen, I can’t slag off US practises if I’m buying their product, can I? Of course HMG could do the accounting honestly, but that would undermine the substantially fictional progress we have made in reducing emissions of GHGs.
